Statement:

Meg Sneed is a Phoenix native; and the founder of the Right to Marry: Arizona Campaign. She is also the co-founder of HERO, and has worked in non profit management for the last seven years. 

She became involved in activism when she participated in the Soulforce Equality Ride in 2006; the Equality Ride is a two-month tour of the country that confronted 19 schools where students could be expelled for being LGBTQ. Since 2006, Sneed has been involved in multiple actions and campaigns to further LGBTQ equality on both a national and local level.

As a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ community, Sneed has gained both local and national attention for her actions. She has been honored with ‘N Touch Magazine’s Woman of the Year, Richard L. Schlegel National Legion of Honor Award for Visionary Leader from American University, Echo Magazine’s Woman of the Year, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream award from the City of Phoenix, Grand Marshall of Phoenix Pride, and an Echo Readers’ Choice Award.

Sneed met her partner, Dr. Mandee Rowley, on the 2010 walk, and the two are currently engaged to be married.
